CRIME IMPACT TEAM

The Crime Impact Team currently consists of five officers who are primarily responsible for conducting drug investigations within the Borough of Chambersburg. They also work together with the Franklin County Drug Task Force, the Pennsylvania State Police and the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) in a combined effort to stop the illegal distribution of drugs in our community.
The Crime Impact Team was originally called the Community Policing Team. It was developed through the use of a federal grant in 1995 and started with just two members. It has since transitioned to a four-man team and then ultimately into the current five man structure.
The team has three investigators whose primary focus are drug investigations. The other two members of the team are Chambersburg Police bicycle officers.
The bicycle provides the officers an ability to patrol areas that a patrol car can't get to and they aid in the work we do with the Crime Impact Team. Additionally, the bicycle officers are able to get out and greet the citizens of our community, which can sometimes be a problem for officers patrolling in a police car.
Our bike officers also work together with several organizations to promote bicycle safety mainly through bike rodeos and speaking engagements.
