EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

Employment as a police officer is a civil service position. The hiring process is explained in further detail upon picking up an application. A written civil service test is given once a year.

- Testing / Position is advertised in local newspapers.
- Application for testing can be picked up Monday Thru Friday at:

- Applications must be returned by 5:00 PM EST Monday February 28,2011.
- The written examination will be held on Wednesday March 9, 2011 at 5:30 PM EST at the Chambersburg Recreation Center (Bard Hall) 235 South Third St, Chambersburg PA.
- Applicants passing the written test will then be scheduled for the initial Physical agility test. The physical agility test consist of (5) strength and agility test.
- 6 ft wall climb
- Sitting shot put
- Vehicle push
- Obstacle course
- Long distance timed run (1 1/2 mile)

- All applicants passing the written exam & initial physical agility test are placed on an eligibility list.
- Upon a position opening within the department, applicants are selected from the lists starting from top to bottom.
- Probable applicants are then subject to an intensive background check and oral interview.
- If you pass the Chambersburg Police Department Written Exam and the Agility Test, move forward in the hiring process, and are
offered a police officer position you will be required to pass additional physical agility testing to enter the HACC police academy.
